A new year. A new set of new year’s resolutions for some. Mine are going to be more modest for 2009.

1. To better appreciate the present moment.

2. To do more things, more often that bring me joy.

3. To be less negative in my thoughts, words and actions.

and maybe I’ll throw in..

4. To keep updating this blog

I’ve been daydreaming too much of opening up a shop. A shop where environmentally-friendly products are more easily accessible.  A shop that sells second-hand stuff that I like to collect and look at, but really have no use for. A shop where I can admire and sell art. A shop that will become my own little world in which I would probably daydream some more..

I’ve been drawing up a list in my head of the things I’d love to have in my shop.

1. Mineral make up

2. Organic clothes, bedding, bath towels

3. Enviro-friendly baby products – nappies, wipes, etc

4. Organic skin care

5. frankie and Peppermint magazine

6. Pre-loved magazines, books, music, clothes, bags, jewelery

7.  Recycled journals and exercise books

8.  Original art or art prints that just.. do something to me like the art of inaluxe or Yellena James.

A girl can dream..

…is playing in the background. There’s something comforting and nostalgic to me about watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s. When I was a kid, I’d watch it snuggled near my mum. It’s my feel-good movie. The one I watch when I feel like watching something, but don’t know what. The one that feels just as good to watch after the second time, 8th time, 15th time. You don’t really follow the storyline when you’re a kid, but you remember characters and scenes.

Holly Golightly is forever enchanting. The clothes, the way she talks fast, even her penmanship I love heehee. She’s unpredictable, spontaneous and a little off-beat – that “do something you’ve never done” game; intending to marry Jose even though he wasn’t her “absolute finito”. Love, love love her.

Classic.

Is there a reason why all of these names belong to men???

Today, you’d be silly to think that women were any less capable of creativity than men, but if you look at the minds which have created the greatest impact on history there is an overwhelming number of men on the list. That just makes me wonder, why..? Is it possible that the world is missing an incredible amount of art and music and writing from women who could have been just as brilliant as these men?

Custom House of Cards

What You’ll Need:
printer
3 sheets of photo quality ink jet paper
3 pieces of 8.5” x 11” cardstock
rubber cement
x-acto knife and straight edge
rounded-corner punch (optional)
scissors

1. Resize a selection of photos to 2.25” x 3.5” each in a photo editing program such as photoshop, and print them out onto photo quality ink jet paper. we printed 24 photos, and were able to fit 8 per page.

2. Mount the printed sheets onto cardstock with rubber cement.
3. Carefully cut out the photos using your x-acto knife and straight edge, and round the corners with your rounded-corner punch or scissors.
4. Cut six 1/2” slits into each card: 1/2” down from the top and 1/2” up from the bottom on either side, and in the center of each short side.

Flowers in general can brighten up my day, but I like orchids especially.

I imagine myself tending to an orchid garden when I’m old. I’d pin up orchid charts like that one ^^; maybe know them by their scientific name & where they originally come from in the world, so I could tell my grandkids. Though they’d probably just be bored by me…
